Pastor Maria Benjamin
Pastorial

Maria Delcarmen Benjamin is a native of Richmond Virginia. Even at an early age she felt the hand of the Lord directing her to a closer relationship with Him. As a sophomore at Huguenot High School, she finally knew in her spirit that she had a personnel relationship with Jesus Christ. During her High School years she served faithfully at Ebenezer Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the Churchill of Richmond. Upon graduation she enlisted in the U. S. Naval Reserves where she served for 6 years. During her service time she participated in Desert Storm at Bethesda Naval Hospital. She was also awarded a scholarship to Georgetown University in Washington D.C. where she received training as an Ophthalmic Technologist. Even though the Lord had blessed Maria in many ways the hand of God was still heavily upon her.

After graduation the Lord led her back to Richmond VA, where she met her soul mate of 15 years, Apostle Leon Benjamin. Maria knew that this was the man for her because of the calling on his life for ministry. They married December 20, 1991 and served faithfully at Greater Refuge church in Richmond, VA for 5 years. After searching the scriptures and with much prayer and deliberation they departed to Christ Ascension Church, there they learned what church building was all about.

Again they served faithfully under the careful watch of Bishop C.T. Hairston, Jr. and his lovely wife Pastor Juanita Hairston for 5 years. With Bishop Hairstons blessing Maria and her husband started Jireh Ministries International in August 2002. Maria and her husband agreed to change the name of the church to New Life Harvest in 2004 which is better known as "The Life." There she was finally ordained on December 11, 2005.

Today, Maria and her husband Leon with their three children Delcarmen age 11, Leon Jr. age 9 and Destiny Benjamin age 3 are working together to make a difference in Richmond. In the last 4 years of serving as Assistant Pastor, Maria has seen many lives changed through her ministry. Her love is seeing souls saved and marriages reconciled. Her dream is to continue to allow the glory of God flow through her in order to bring many to Christ. Their motto at "The Life" is to "Win the Lost at any Cost," which is truly her endeavor.
